2.) What motivates you to apply for this position?

The Tangle Community Treasury is the strongest tool of the IOTA/Shimmer community to directly and actively shape the growth of the IOTA/Shimmer ecosystem and help making it as success.

As a IOTA/Shimmer tech-enthusiast, as a token holder and as an entrepreneur in the space I am strongly motivated to see IOTA and Shimmer becoming the great success story it was always meant to be. I personally see that providing thoughtful opinions and well thought-out viewpoints, that were build by many years of first-hand experience in this space, as one of my best ways to do my part in this process.

3.) What is your educational and professional background?

Educational Background

  • Bachelor of Science in Biology from the Technical University Darmstadt, Germany
  • Master of Science in Technical Biology from the Technical University Darmstadt, Germany

Web3/Crypto Background

Professional Background

  • Biotechnological Research Engineer at Brain AG (Zwingenberg) and Philipps Universität Marburg, Germany
  • Dissemination Manager (Science Communicator) at Max-Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology in Jena, Germany

4.) What experience do you have relevant to this position (grant reviewer, Project manager, etc.)? Please describe

I have worked as a reviewer and co-lead in the Tangle Treasury in its first term through 2023. A full year of hands-on experience in the treasury, enriched by constant feedback and contact with the community (for example in the IOTA Discord the IOTA Stammtisch or Tangle Talk Telegram) gave me a deep understanding of the chances and difficulties that a community-led treasury faces - both strategically (for example its larger funding strategy and finance management) and in day-to-day business (discussing individual proposals, following up on milestones, etc.). This experience will help me to judge proposals and complex topics with more understanding and higher efficiency.

As a long-time active community member with several active start-ups in the field I understand the perspectives of entrepreneurs and related staff, such as developers, communicators and artists from a first-hand perspective.

In the past year I enjoyed working within a dynamic team of elected community members, always trying to allocate the community funds for the larger benefit of the whole IOTA and Shimmer ecosystem and I am fully motivated to perform the same and better in a potential second term 2024/25.

5.) Are you a software developer? If yes, please provide info on your skills and proof of the projects you already have built/worked on (Github, languages, certificates, etc.)

I am not a software developer, but I work very closely with frontend-, backend- and smart-contract developers in all of my start-ups. Through this I developed a firm, basic understanding of all typical web- and crypto-related development topics and can usually judge the feasibility and expected effort of typical crypto projects. However, I am not able to review actual code myself or go into too detailed technological discussion.

6.) Do you have affiliations that may cause a conflict of interest when reviewing applications? The community would like to know particularly if reviewers are involved with projects as a creator, on the board, or employed. Please list any projects or applications you have affiliations to.

  • Co-Founder of the IOTA/Shimmer ecosystem website Tangleverse. This can lead to conflict of interest with similar info aggregator platforms.
  • Co-Founder of the NFT card-game Infernal Uprising and the NFT-creation game Daobee. This can lead to a conflict of interest when reviewing other NFT- and crypto-games (although I am of the sincere opinion that we need a whole collection of successful crypto games in parallel in order to create a flourishing crypto gaming ecosystem, from which then all gaming projects benefit.)

*Note: This will in no way prevent you from being elected to the position. It is the opposite. We seek experienced reviewers that are specialists in different industries. The reviewers with affiliations will not be able to review grants within their category; however, they will be great resources and act as subject matter experts.

7.) Are you willing to sign a legally binding service provider contract and reveal and verify your identity through a KYC process with the legal entity of the Treasury Committee?

Note: KYC is required for this position. If you are unwilling to KYC and sign a service provider contract, you will not be accepted to the Shimmer Community Treasury.

Yes

8.) Can you commit 10 hours weekly on average to work as a grant reviewer for the Shimmer community over the next 12 months?

Yes

9.) If you are voted in the top 2 reviewers, you may have the option to join the Growth Committee and work with the TEA representatives. In this case, you may be required to work hours over the required 10 hrs per week. Are you able to commit to this if required?

Yes

10.) Are you willing to sign a service provider contract, including an NDA with the Tangle Ecosystem Association, and respect the Non-Disclosure Agreement if selected as a member of the Growth Committee? Breaking the Non-Disclosure Agreement may bring consequences financially and or legally.

Yes

11.) Provide any web links or supporting documentation you would like the community to see when assessing you for the Shimmer Community Treasury Grant Reviewer position.

12.) What is your long-term vision of the Shimmer Community Treasury? How do you see the Community Treasury affecting the Shimmer & IOTA ecosystem, and what does the Shimmer & IOTA Ecosystem look to you in three years?

Shimmer will continue to be IOTAs testbed for cutting-edge technology. This means it will always be the first staging ground for all kinds of projects to ramp-up their products and communities The task of the Tangle Treasury will be to make this process as attractive and inviting as possible for all established and new projects.

I am a proponent of a actively engaging treasury. This means the treasury does not just wait passively for proposals to come in before it acts, instead the elected team and the IOTA/Shimmer community actively discuss and identify best next steps in forstering progress - this can then take many forms, such as proposal funding, OTC token buys to help established projects, liquidity povision and infrastructure funding among other things (as we have shown over the past year and hope to continue in the next term).
